Sergeant, 1st Infantry Division, Sicily, 1943

The light color was found to be unsatisfactory for camouflage purposes. Despite these drawbacks, this jacket equipped US soldier's all the way to the end of the war in Europe primarily due to insufficient production of the new M1943 jacket. On his left shoulder, he wears the divisional patch of the "Big Red One."
